Description

When Jeremiah Owyang decided to leave the Altimeter Group (from what I hear a very successful firm) last December to start a new venture, many took notice. Owyang’s new start-up called, Crowd Companies is a brand council whose primary function is to help big brands understand, then connect with startups in the Collaborative Economy. In other words, help companies figure out how to best capitalize on the democratization of human resources around the globe.

Uber, Lyft, elance and Mechnical Turk are examples of the crowd collaborating to solve challenges previous solved by corporations. TaskRabbit and HouseCall are examples of the crowd providing services previously served by

smaller businesses. IndieGogo and Kickstarter are providing critical liquidity not provided by stodgy banks or picky Venture Capitalists. Companies like Raynforest (my company) and OpenDorse are providing next generation marketing solutions from influential people with huge social followings
